TRIGGER POINT INJECTIONS​

Our trigger point injections offer a great way to relieve acute and chronic muscle pain.  Our OrthoRegen® doctors use a special formulation involving local anaesthetic and 5% Dextrose to inject directly into the muscle trigger point, relieving tension in the region and producing pain relief.​  Lower limb pain is often mistaken for "sciatica" or nerve pain.  However, the muscles in the gluteal region can radiate pain down the legs and this pattern of pain is referred to as Trigger Point Referred Pain.  Trigger Point Therapy can provide immediate relief to muscle spasms that are causing referred pain.

NERVE HYDRODISSECTION

A common presentation at OrthoRegen® are patients experiencing neuropathic pain.  This presentation is often wrongly

diagnosed as a joint or tendon problem.  However, in our experience, nerves play a major role in pain generation particularly when they are compressed by fascia or ligament tissue.  Dr Paul Schiavo uses ultrasound guidance to find these compressed and swollen nerves and precisely injects a 5% Dextrose solution around these nerves, freeing up the compression by hydro-dissecting the tight tissue surrounding the nerves.  The compressed nerves are usually swollen and inflamed. The 5% Dextrose solution acts to reduce this neurogenic inflammation.  An example of a condition this treatment is used in is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome.  In fact, Nerve Hydrodissection for Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is now a recommended treatment option documented in the renowned medical textbook Harrison's Internal Medicine.
